THE BIG TWO-OH.

So I'm 20 now, and unsurprisingly, nothing much has changed. No party poppers, balloons, and fireworks celebrating the fact that I survived the terrible teens (the terrible two's just don't compare) but being the annoyingly nostalgic person I am (I'm working on that I swear), I like to take a little time to reflect at times like these.

Contrary to popular belief, teenage years are not always the best years of someone's life. For me, they were sooooo confusing, I feel like I spent a good chunk of them in total bewilderment, just blindly trying to find steady footing, and often falling flat on my face (literally).

I was immensely naive, and in some ways I still am. I constantly had my head in the clouds (or in a book... that definitely hasn't changed) but I see things a little clearer now.

18 and 19 were definitely the two best years as a teenager for me, and I feel like my 20's will be good (God willing) simply because I know myself better, and I make better decisions, and I try every day to be a better person. And in the smallest ways possible, I'm working on making my dreams come true.

I feel like I'm in a pretty good place right now, and despite the ups and downs life throws my way, I have been for a while.

My 20th birthday was a pretty sweet one! Any birthday of mine would be incomplete without something book related, and my sister did not disappoint!

After careful research, she bought me a bundle of diverse novels, wrapped in the cutest packaging with little summaries on each tag! How perfect?! I could NOT have been more surprised when I walked into my room and saw this beautiful pile. I was so tempted to keep them in their pretty packaging for a little longer :')

I'll let you guys know what books she bought for me in the next post!

Meanwhile, check out my Instagram post where I listed #20factsaboutme, fitting seeing as it's my 20th birthday :D

What's the best birthday present you guys have received? And what would you prefer to get other than books?

    1. Thank you Bethan! It was totally unexpected and creative! I probably won't have time to read them until my academic year is over but I can't wait to tuck into them when summer arrives :D

  3. Happy birthday :-) (even if I wished you a happy birthday already on Instagram, but it doesn't hurt to say it more, right? :P)I felt that I was naive, too, when I was a teenager. I guess that's the point of growing up! But welcome in the twenties! ;) And I'm really curious to know what are the books your sisters bought you. The packaging is adorable! xx

  4. Life is so much better when you know yourself. I really can't understand when people say they miss high school or college days - confused, trying to fit in ugh haha. I hope you have a wonderful year of being 20 :) and I look forward to seeing your new books (such a lovely, thoughtful idea!) xox

    1. Isn't is just. Teenage years are a confusing mess because you spend so long trying to figure out who you are and even when you THINK you know, a few years later you look back and realise you were painfully painfully wrong. Fun stuff! Thanks Sarah!
